Unzipping represents a striking symbol for opening the frontiers at this strategic point of encounter between Italy and Slovenia. The natural site of the former civil hospital is transformed into an open urban park following a grove and clearing pattern coming along with the zipper motif.

At the place of the zipper slider, the new youth centre across the border constitutes the major meeting point of the student community and the departure of the 2 major axis of the urban layout. The Creation line groups together the new education, research and services places. The Recreation line constitutes a fitness trail joining together the existing and new sport and leisure outdoor facilities.
